Privacy
Propounded has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, and no analytics. This page describes exactly what happens in your browser when you read the archive, and it is short because very little happens.

What is not collected
- No cookies are set. The site does not write to
document.cookieat all. - No analytics, tag manager, heatmap, session recorder, or advertising script runs on any page.
- Loading a page makes no third-party requests. Fonts, icons, styles, scripts, and images all come from this domain, and the site's content security policy is set to
default-src 'self'withconnect-src 'self', so your browser refuses an off-domain request even if one were ever introduced by mistake. - There is no contact form, no comment box, and no upload. The one
<form>element on the site closes a dialog and submits nowhere. - You are not asked for your name, your email address, your employer, or who you are writing to. Nothing you type into the compose box leaves your device.
- No record is kept of which messages you read, copy, shortlist, or download. There is nowhere for such a record to be written.
What is stored on your device
Two features remember something between visits. Both use your browser's local storage, which means the data sits on your own machine and is never transmitted to this site or anywhere else.
propounded:compose- The name and sign-off you last used in the compose box, so you do not have to retype them on the next message.
propounded:shortlist- The identifiers of the messages you have shortlisted, so your shortlist survives navigating between pages.
The site also installs a service worker, which keeps copies of pages you have already opened in your browser's cache so the archive still works when you lose your connection. Those copies are the same public pages anyone can read; they contain nothing about you.
Neither field is meant for anything sensitive. The compose box exists to hold a first name and a sign-off, and that is all it should ever be given.

Filtering, and sharing to somewhere else
Choosing an occasion, a recipient, a tone, or a length filters the page you are already on. The address bar is rewritten to match, so the view you are looking at can be bookmarked or sent to someone — but that rewriting happens inside your browser and sends nothing here. A filter term reaches the network only if you go on to reload or share that address, and then it travels as part of the address, exactly like any other URL.
The share buttons are ordinary links, not embedded widgets. WhatsApp, Pinterest, and your email client are opened with the address already filled in;Copy link writes it to your clipboard and involves nobody.
Nothing from those services runs on this site and none of them is contacted unless you pick one. Worth being plain about the consequence, though: choosing one takes you to their site, and from that point you are under their privacy policy rather than this one.
Images and downloads
Every message and every occasion page also exists as an image you can open and save. Those images are kept in Cloudflare R2 and served from this domain rather than from a separate image host, which is a deliberate choice: an image loaded from somewhere else would tell that somewhere else what you were reading.
Opening or downloading one is an ordinary request to this site. It involves no third party, and it identifies you to no one.
Requests to the server
The pages are static files served from Cloudflare's network. Delivering any web page requires the server to see the request: the address it came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser making the ask. That is how the response finds its way back to you, and it is handled by the hosting provider as part of serving the file and protecting the service from abuse.
Every page you read was written to a file before it was ever requested, and there is no database behind the archive. Images are the one thing not shipped as part of the site: a short piece of code looks up the image you asked for in storage and returns it. It reads the file name and nothing else — no cookie, no header, no record of the request.
Nothing in this site's own code reads, records, enriches, or joins request information to anything else.
Children and sensitive data
The archive is a public reading collection with no interactive account of any kind, so there is nothing here to sign a child up to and no profile to build about anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, the law may give you the right to ask what personal information is held about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. The honest answer here is that there is almost certainly nothing to retrieve: with no accounts, no forms, and no profiles, this site holds nothing that identifies you.
Changes and questions
If this notice changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it — it is read from the page's own revision history when the site is built, so it cannot drift out of step with the text. If a future version ever adds analytics, advertising, a payment step, or another third-party technology, this page is updated before that feature is switched on, not after.
